How long can a drum amuse a beginner before they get bored and yearn for a band to play along with? Also can you recommend a good beginners kit? I play guitar and i'm a vocalist but I think i want to branch out.

Cheers

DAMN. that's exactly what i was going to ask.
how about blake's?

dear nadia....cool, i play guitar and sing a little too. i think it helps me approach drumming more sensitively....how long will a drum amuse you? i can tell you how long a drummer can amuse you, ha ha...no seriously , you can go as deep as you want to with drum study. all of my favorite drummers, especially the jazz guys are in it for life. i suggest playing with people slightly better than you as soon as you can keep a song together beginning to end. its important to do individual study but also to have a group to work out your progress with. they will also keep you in check when you make stupid faces when you play...the easiest beginner kit to get is probably the pacific by DW from guitar center..get used zildjian cymbals from craigslist. as long as they arent cracked, you're all good.
and dont forget..go to the gun store and buy shotgun headphones. they block out 30db and that will save your hearing as you start to put in the hours...good luck, and say hey if we come thru your town....stu

courtney....dear courtney.
wylies number?
you dont want to join that long line, do you?
and blakes number?
that line isnt so long as it is winding and freaky.
over treetops and under sofas.
blake fans are a colorful lot.
you would see me in that line.
but id have to know more about you.
i have known him for over two years and up until last week he made me meet him at the 7-11 when he wanted to teach me a new song.
blake is a very private man.
very very private.
so very private and heavily guarded is his number
that there is no way i would tell you that its
323 923 0288.
shit.
dont tell a soul.
he's going to kill me.
i have to go now.
bye bye.

stay in school

Cheers Stu.

Drummers do have the ability to keep one amused for a lengthy amount of time. Months even a year! Anyway, I already have some pretty good in-ears to protect my ears which have taken a battering over the years. If only i didn't keep leaving home without them!!

Thanks for the heads up. I was looking at DW's but didn't know which so cheers.
